Every evening at Intrigue Chat starts in the same place. Intrigue Bar And Lounge is our main room: low lights, a well-stocked bar and a crowd of regulars who were new once too. Pull up a seat. Nobody needs your life story tonight.
Who it’s for
Everyone over 18. First visit or five-hundredth, this is where you say hello, catch up with friends and find out what’s going on. Come for the conversation, stay for the company, and flirt if the mood is right.
What you’ll find inside
- Conversation about everything: daily life, music, films, relationships and the occasional bit of mischief.
- The bar, with a full menu of virtual drinks to order for yourself or send to someone else.
- Room Keepers on hand to welcome new faces and keep the evening running smoothly.
- A mood that shifts through the day, from easy afternoon chatter to a busier, livelier night.
The bar
The menu is half the fun: Velvet Cocktails, Whispers, The Cellar, Shared Secrets, and Sweet Nothings for anyone skipping the hard stuff. Some drinks are free and some cost Gold, the chat’s own currency.
Sending someone a drink is the easiest way to say hello, say thank you, or say “I liked what you said” without saying it in front of the whole room.
Your first visit
- Say hello to the room when you arrive.
- Join a conversation that’s already happening instead of starting one from scratch.
- Get to know someone in the room before you private message them.
- Give it a little time. The best conversations rarely start in the first five minutes.
The mood after dark
Evenings are the busiest. Regulars drift in, the bar gets going, and the talk wanders from the day’s news to films to flirty banter. Later the crowd thins to a smaller, chattier group of night owls, and plenty of members will tell you that’s the best time to log in.
Making friends in a busy room
- Remember names and greet people when they come back.
- Pick up on something someone said earlier and ask about it.
- Send a drink to say thanks or hello.
- Add the people you get on with to your friends list.
House Rules still apply
Everything in the House Rules applies here. The short version: respect people’s boundaries, keep personal details private, keep media appropriate and listen to the Room Keepers. No means no, in the room and in private messages.
Questions people ask
Who can come in?
Any member aged 18 or over, guests included.
Do I need VIP?
No. The lounge is free. VIP is a paid upgrade that adds extra features, such as sending gifts. Our guide to ranks, VIP and Intrigue+ explains what’s included.
I’m shy. How do I start?
A simple hello is enough. Sending someone a drink is another. Our chat room icebreakers have more ideas.
Who are the people with crests?
Every name in Intrigue wears a crest. Room Keepers look after the room, the Inner Circle runs the site, and Advisors help with events and community. The glossary explains the rest.
